Crux Gives Back During the Open Season

This year during the Open, Crux has decided to give back to our community with a 5 week charity drive.  Each week there will be a jar at the front desk labelled with the charity we are raising money for.  We will be posting the online donation options for each of these worthy causes on our website but in the meantime, please drop some money in the JAR at the gym.

**As an added incentive to get those donations, your trainers will be doing exercise penalty's for every dollar raised.  Allen will start it off by doing a burpee for every buck raised within the next week.  He will be sending us a live stream from Barbados of his burpees, so let's make sure he has lots to do!!**

For week one we will be support Muscular Dystrophy, something near and dear to one of the original CrossFit Crux members and coach Allan’s heart . In 2008 his son Jack was diagnosed with Beckers Muscular Dystrophy, a disease that causes his muscles to progressively weaken over time. As you can imagine, raising funds and awareness for this disease is a very important cause to him and his family. This year Allan will serve as the ambassadors for the York Region Walk for Muscular Dystrophy taking place on May 14 at Richmond Green. Proceeds raised from the Walk will go towards education, research, advocacy and assisted devices.

“Team JackAttack” (aptly named by Jack) is looking for your support in a couple of upcoming fundraisers. One of these will be a CrossFit Crux members only partner competition in April (details to follow) and another is part of this larger Crux fundraising initiative that starts tonight night.  Muscles matter so please be generous.

The 3 charities we have decided to give back to are:

  1. Muscular Dystrophy - Crux In house Competition in April (tbd)
  2. Southlake Cancer Foundation - We have a few teams competing at the CrossFit to CrossOut Cancer competition on May 14th
  3. Heart & Stroke Foundation  - Crux will be riding the Big Bike on May 18th @ 4:30 in Stouffville
